A big portion of our users consists of people working on the frontline of manufacturing. They often find themselves in noisy environments, for example due to loud machines and also need to collaborate remotely with colleagues across the globe and languages.
We designed & developed captions that work, for 1:1 conversations and group calls. With our feature everyone can communicate in the language in which they feel most comfortable to hold a conversation.
I created user flows that ensure every user using captions can understand what their remote partner is saying.
The user flows for the primary and secondary flow of this feature.
The complete interaction flow covers desktop and mobile.
After turning on captions the user can set his spoken language and turn on translation, if needed.
If the user that turned on captions also turned on translation the other users are asked which language they are speaking.
If the languages of the supporter and the supportee are not the same and translation is turned on, the captions are translated to their target language.
